The social network for the inquisitive

Ask.fm is a social network that puts a twist on services like Facebook, Twitter or Google+, as it focuses exclusively on questions and answers that are sent and commented on by its users.

On Ask.fm, as on other social networks, you create a user account and set up a list of friends you can send questions to. They'll answer them and will send you questions. The questions can revolve around any topic, from generic to particular or personal. The possibilities are infinite.

Ask me whatever you want

The purpose of Ask.fm is to satisfy your curiosity by giving you the opportunity to ask your friends about anything. They'll be able to do the same, and you'll even have the chance to search for other users and view their profiles, seeing their lists of questions and answers as well.

Ask.fm allows you to import contacts from Facebook and Twitter or to find them through a search. What's more, you have a list of random questions to inspire you, and when you get a question from your friends you'll get a notification. Responding to questions is really easy on Ask.fm. You can also include an image or video to complement the text.

However, the most recent versions of Ask.fm continue to display the option to create anonymous questions, even though it's impossible to select that option. There's also no search function for looking up questions.

Halfway between Facebook and Twitter

Ask.fm boasts a similar structure to that of other more popular social networks. On the one hand, it focuses on contacts or friends like Facebook, and on the other, when you respond to or create questions, you have access to a menu that is very Twitter-like.

For the curious

If you want to get to know your friends a little more, Ask.fm is a good way to do it, with public questions and answers that you can share among your friends. Additionally, it can be used to meet other people.

However, it is not possible to find questions from users you don't know, which means creating personal questions instead of queries like those on Quora.

PROS

  • You can include photos and videos
  • List of friends to ask questions
  • Friend Search

CONS

  • Users aren't filtered by language or country
